Our Story and Mission

Transforming lives through education since 2007

Our History

Founded in 2007 (2000 E.C.), Shaykosh Boarding School was established through a partnership between the Somali Regional State and the Pastoralist Development and Relief Association (PDRA).

As the first boarding institution specifically for pastoralist children in the region, our school was created to address the unique challenges faced by nomadic communities in accessing continuous education.

Since our founding, we have graduated over 7,000 students who are now contributing to their communities in various capacities.

Since our founding, we have made significant strides in increasing access to education for pastoralist children, particularly girls who faced even greater barriers to education.

Our boarding model has proven successful in providing stability and continuity in education for children from nomadic backgrounds.

The growing percentage of female students demonstrates our commitment to gender equality in education.
